Ingrid Saaliste

Ingrid Saaliste was born in Germany (near Cologne) and was raised in Montreal. In 1976 she moved to Toronto. She attended Three Schools, Humber College, George Brown and also the New York Institute of Photography. Ingrid’s interest in art rubbed off at an early age from her father who paints in oil, and who has dabbled in photography and home movies. At an early age, Ingrid was fascinated by her father’s Agfa bellows still camera. In her mid-teenage years, she bought herself her own camera, and soon afterwards won a corporate photo contest with a Barbadian sunset.

Ingrid worked as a flight attendant for 35 years where she received the taste to photograph many international subjects.

For almost five years, Ingrid owned and operated the Right Side Gallery in Penetanguishene, Ontario, representing approximately ten artists. Each month she featured guest artists with receptions. The renowned Canadian portrait artist, Cyril Leeper, was represented at her gallery.

A multiple award winning photographer (currently two Honourable Mention’s in the Women in Photography International “Magical” contest), Ingrid has exhibited her nature and travel photography at shows and galleries in the United States and Canada for the

last twelve years. She believes that experiencing nature’s beauty has the power to nourish and unify us on both an emotional and spiritual level. She makes every effort to visually capture the true reality of nature in its natural habitat. Her quest is to find the unseen in the visible and aesthetically present it to the viewer. Her fine art limited edition photographs combine tranquil settings, vivid colours and a unique perspective of the environment.

Her current “Laundry” theme is a reflection of life in the eastern Mediterranean area

, one we don’t so often see in North America anymore.

Ingrid resides in Honey Harbour, on the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada. Her photographs hang in government, corporate and private collections worldwide. She adjudicates photo contests, and has been published in Camera Arts and Arabella magazines. Parks Canada has recently purchased several of her Georgian Bay images.
